X Marks the Spot: 3 Inventors

Typographic Poster Set
2022
The “X Marks the Spot” poster set advertises a museum exhibit that showcases three inventors' finest works. The inventors included are Claudius Ptolemy, Gladys West, and Kursat Ceylan. The posters work together as a set and also on their own. Isometric type is utilized in the inventors' names to draw in the viewer's attention.

The posters are designed to be seen as blueprints. There are illustrations of each person's inventions situated around the type that is advertising the exhibition.

My first move to digital work that I made was workshopping Kursat Ceylan’s poster. I started by mapping out a cityscape.

Seeing this rough layout sparked the blueprint idea that is now seen in the final posters.

The illustrations on Gladys and Kursat’s posters are based directly on patented blueprints of the inventions they helped develop.

Claudius worked mostly on scientific theories, so the illustrations on his poster are tools he used to reach his findings.
